Take care of the lips
The lips are a very sensitive organ (read: Biology of the lips). In order to preserve their beauty it is important to take care of them with appropriate products.
Repair and healing
The lips are located at the entrance of the mouth and are therefore used all day long to talk, eat etc. The lips can therefore be more easily injured, cut, small dead skin removed etc.
Honey is a natural product known for centuries by humans for its healing and soothing properties. The subject of numerous scientific studies, honey has antimicrobial, immunomodulatory and antioxidant properties that promote and accelerate healing.
Moisturizing
Due to their anatomy, lips dry out more easily and quickly than other areas of the face. Dry lips can cause discomfort and poor aesthetics.
Some natural products will have interesting moisturizing properties to restore good lip hydration. This is the case of hyaluronic acid, a sugar that is physiologically present in the extracellular matrix, i.e. the external environment of the cells. Hyaluronic acid has very good moisturizing properties and will help to restore a more plump appearance to the lips. Alaria esculenta algae extract also increases lip hydration by stimulating the synthesis of hyaluronic acid and other sugars from the extracellular environment. This extract will also stimulate collagen synthesis, thus having an action against fine lines and wrinkles on the lips.
Protection
Finally, after repairing a good protection is necessary. As explained in the article Lip biology, lip skin does not have sebaceous glands and is therefore not covered with the protective sebum film that covers the rest of the facial skin.
In order to mimic this protective film and provide the lips with a protective layer, similar fatty acids can be provided by different vegetable oils and butters, such as pomegranate, rose and raspberry oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids and especially linoleic acid (read: The benefits of vegetable oils to moisturize the skin).
This protective layer will limit water loss from the lips and help keep them moisturized and replenished over time.
